Frank Saunders Senior RIP
The New Ross and District
Pipe Band would like to record its sympathy to the family of Frank
Saunders Senior who passed away on August 8th. 2008 at the age of 74.
Frank was involved with the band since its formation in 1974 and taught
the band's first drum corps. Frank's son , Frank Junior, took over the
position of drumming instructor in the early 1980's and is still a
mamber of the band. Frank's son Ian played bass drum and tenor drum
with the band for many years while daughter Rhona, grand-daughter
Michelle, grand-son Paul, Grand-daughter Shauna , Daughter in Law
Margaret, all played with the band over a long period of time.
Frank made many visits to
New Ross and many people in New Ross have very happy and fond memories
of his time with the band. Frank came out of retirement to play with
the New Ross band in 1996 when they won 6th. prize in Grade 3A at tthe
World Pipe Band Chgampionships in Glasgow.
